Bought this a while back, but just got around to it and man! I'm upset that I didn't break it out sooner!Brought it on vacation with me out of the country where I knew there would be no wifi, so this would be my substitute for idle time passing and sun bathing. It is excellent. It truly is a variety of puzzles. Number puzzles, innovative funky crosswords, cryptographs, all the good stuff. Literally gave me a week of fun on a beach for less than $4. Couldn't recommend more highly.

A good book for puzzle enthusiasts. Bought this for my 90 year old mother. She uses these types of books to keep her brain active. It really helps. She was extremely pleased.
These are addictive and will keep you up at night just doing one more!wouldnt take a plane ride without a book like this.

There are too many repeats of puzzles like cryptograms that I don't find enjoyable, and many of the other puzzles have answers that are so "out there" I'm not sure how you would even know an answer.
Variety Puzzles was the variety of Acrostics, logic problems, Cryptograms, Groupies, etc that I expected as I had ordered it based on reviews of previous purchasers.
Most of these puzzles are great! Some of them make no sense. Even reading the instructions and the answers, I can't figure out exactly what I am supposed to do. Fortunately, there aren't very many of that curious puzzle type.
I got this book because I was having a hard time focusing my mind enough to read. I found myself reading the same paragraphs over and over, unable to recall what was going on. Reading used to be my #1 passion, and this was a problem for me. I credit this puzzle collection and a couple of others like it for getting me back into my beloved books. That grey muscle really does need to be exercised!
I think there are over 30 volumes of these 8.5 x 11" paperback books now, but be sure they are the VARIETY versions because they will hold your interest the longest. Included are code crosswords, diamond nines, letter boxes, logic problems, sudoku, word division, and more. A very nice mix of letter and number problems to keep you going for days. Some easy, some medium, some hard, so you can choose depending on how sharp you feel that day (or night) . Cheap newsprint paper on the inside perfect for any soft lead pencil, but won't stand up to much marker ink. Large enough (but not too large) print so you can read instructions and work them by the light on your nightstand while spouse is sleeping. Wish they would reprint them in spiral-bound form--would be more expensive, but worth it. Why on earth didn't they give them ISBN numbers so I can do searches for them individually?
