More special treatment for the Church

As if allowing it to get away with covering up child molestation wasn't enough, new legislation proposed by Sen. Arlen Specter, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, would grant the church an "exemption" from copyright laws to allow houses of worship to show football games on big-screen televisions. I am not making this up! Apparently, the NFL has sought to enforce its copyright of the Super Bowl by sending letters to churches warning them that showing the game on big-screen sets violates the league's copyright. Copyrights are protected by law in this country. So what do our wise legislators do? Make the law Christianity's whore of course!

"Under Specter's legislation, religious organizations that wish to show professional football games would be declared exempt". That WISH! What a precedent! In other words, if churches wish to break some law (in this case copyright laws) they should be exempt. That is the logic behind that statement and it is not a slippery slope fallacy either. So why stop at copyrights, and child molestation. Let us make the church exempt from every known law, if it so wishes of course!

"The legislation simply provides churches with a limited yet justifiable exemption to allow them to bring their congregation together to watch the Super Bowl," Specter, R-Pa., said when he introduced the legislation Monday. "In a time when our country is divided by war and anxious about a fluctuating economy, these types of events give people a reason to come together in the spirit of camaraderie."

What a load of horse shit! Limited? In what sense is it limited? They want to give the church an exemption, BECAUSE THE CHURCH WISHES SO! It is only limited by the churches imagination as to what it wishes. Justifiable? Oh, yeah, they want to bring their congregation together, so hell yeah that's enough justification to break the law. What these people don't get together enough during their get togethers in honor of their common imaginary friend/daddy/heartless killer?

They'll never stop will they? Huckabee wants to change the Constitution to make it agree with God's word. That's the blueprint these people follow. The law applies to everybody, except the church. The church should be exempt from all laws. These guys must be the most hypocritical beings in the universe. They call atheists and scientist arrogant when we show them how ignorant they are. And on the other hand they demand to be exempt from society's laws. Talk about being full of shit!
